Series History

  • Georgia leads the all-time series 58-44-2 (per Georgia Athletics), after a 24-20 Georgia win on Nov. 1, 2025.
  • This is the first time the series has been played in Atlanta.

Getting There

  • From Gainesville, Florida fans usually take I-75 north to Atlanta.
  • From Athens, Georgia fans usually come west into Atlanta.
  • Nearest airport: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International.
  • MARTA costs $2.50 each way. Use the SEC District Station (formerly GWCC/CNN Center) for the stadium.
  • Rideshare: Zone 1 is at GWCC Bus Lane C on Northside Drive (best from Gate 1). Zone 2 is on Broad Street between Trinity and Mitchell (best from Gates 2 to 4, and quicker to the airport and interstates). Both are about a 10-minute walk.

Parking

  • The stadium says there are more than 20,000 spaces within a 20-minute walk, and lots often sell out.
  • Buy parking ahead through the stadium’s official parking site, parking.mercedesbenzstadium.com.

Bag Policy

  • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, including clear backpacks, fanny packs and cinch bags.
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags.
  • Small non-clear bags up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches, carried in with a clear plastic bag.

  • Gator fans in Gainesville and Bulldog fans in Athens fill local bars and restaurants on game day. Call ahead for big groups.

Where Fans Meet

  • Both fan bases gather around downtown Atlanta and the stadium area before kickoff.
  • Fans with floor seats must enter at the floor entry line near Gate 1 and the soccer ball sculpture.

Tailgating Rules

Tailgating rules depend on the lot you buy. Check the rules on your parking pass and the stadium’s official A-Z guide before you set anything up.

Food Ideas

  • Easy tailgate ideas: wings, sliders, pulled pork, a big pot of chili or queso, and finger desserts. Since it’s Halloween, themed treats are a fun extra.
  • With a 3:30 p.m. kickoff and 2 p.m. gates, plan a late lunch before you head in.

Where to Stay

  • Downtown Atlanta is closest to the stadium.
  • Midtown and areas along the MARTA rail lines are good options if you plan to ride MARTA to the game.
